Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 cups cooked rice or noodles (for serving)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for about two minutes until translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, around five minutes. Break apart with a spatula.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional thirty seconds.
  5. Add the broccoli florets along with ¼ cup of water. Cover and steam for three to four minutes until broccoli is tender but still crisp.
  6. Pour the honey garlic sauce into the pan and let it simmer for about two minutes.
  7. Add the cornstarch slurry, stirring in until the sauce thickens.
  8. Remove from heat and serve hot over cooked rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds and green onion slices.

Notes

Use fresh broccoli for the best taste and texture. Adjust red pepper flakes for desired spice level.
