Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips, reserving the rest for topping.
  6. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
  7. Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid opening the oven door frequently to prevent sinking.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

  • For a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
