- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips, reserving the rest for topping.
- Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid opening the oven door frequently to prevent sinking.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- For a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- This bread can be frozen for up to 3 months.
