- 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1.5 tbsp Cajun seasoning, divided
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 0.5 cup reserved pasta water (as needed)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- 0.25 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and reserve 0.5 cup of pasta water.
- Season the sirloin cubes with 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, sear the seasoned steak in a single layer for about 2-3 minutes per side until browned.
- Remove the steak and set aside. Lower the heat to medium, add 2 tablespoons of butter and minced garlic to the skillet, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the heavy cream and remaining Cajun seasoning, stirring well to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Incorporate the steak back into the skillet and gradually add the reserved pasta water until the sauce reaches the desired consistency.
- Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy. Adjust seasoning with extra salt and pepper as needed.
- Stir in the remaining tablespoon of butter and chopped parsley. If desired, add lemon juice for brightness.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the sauce, tossing until evenly coated. Serve warm and enjoy!

For a lighter version, consider using chicken or tenderloin. Add vegetables like bell peppers or spinach to enhance nutrition.
