Description

A rich and creamy Cajun butter steak pasta that combines the robust flavors of tender sirloin with a luscious sauce, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz penne pasta (or fettuccine)
  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1.5 tbsp Cajun seasoning, divided
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 cup reserved pasta water (as needed)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 0.25 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and reserve 0.5 cup of pasta water.
  2. Season the sirloin cubes with 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, sear the seasoned steak in a single layer for about 2-3 minutes per side until browned.
  4. Remove the steak and set aside. Lower the heat to medium, add 2 tablespoons of butter and minced garlic to the skillet, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and remaining Cajun seasoning, stirring well to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Incorporate the steak back into the skillet and gradually add the reserved pasta water until the sauce reaches the desired consistency.
  7. Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy. Adjust seasoning with extra salt and pepper as needed.
  8. Stir in the remaining tablespoon of butter and chopped parsley. If desired, add lemon juice for brightness.
  9. Combine the cooked pasta with the sauce, tossing until evenly coated. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For a lighter version, consider using chicken or tenderloin. Add vegetables like bell peppers or spinach to enhance nutrition.
