Description

Korean braised tofu is a flavorful dish that balances savory and spicy elements, making it a comforting choice for all eaters, whether vegan or meat lovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block Tofu
  • 3 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 3 Scallions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
  • 1 cup Water
  • Rice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture and cut it into cubes.
  2. In a pan, heat sesame oil over medium heat and add the tofu. Pan-fry until golden brown on all sides.
  3. Remove the tofu and set it aside.
  4. In the same pan, add minced garlic and chopped scallions, sautéing until fragrant.
  5. Add soy sauce, gochujang, sugar, and water, stirring to combine.
  6. Return the tofu to the pan, coat it in the sauce, and let it braise for about 10-15 minutes, allowing it to absorb the flavors.
  7. Serve hot over rice.

Notes

For best results, press the tofu for 15-30 minutes and adjust gochujang and sugar to taste. Garnish with sliced scallions and sesame seeds for added texture and flavor.
