Ingredients

Scale
  • Hot dogs or mozzarella sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Oil for frying
  • Optional: diced potatoes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the hot dogs or mozzarella sticks by inserting skewers into them.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, stirring until you achieve a thick, smooth batter.
  4. If using, coat diced potatoes in batter before wrapping them around the skewered hot dogs or cheese.
  5. Dip the skewered hot dogs into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.
  6. Carefully place the coated hot dogs into the preheated oil.
  7. Fry until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes, turning for even coloring.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels before serving.

Notes

For a unique twist, roll corn dogs in crushed ramen noodles after frying or dust with powdered sugar.
