Description

A quick and flavorful Korean-inspired ground beef bulgogi bowl with all the traditional flavors but ready in under 30 minutes. Perfect for busy weeknights!


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (can substitute with ground turkey)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour the sauce over the beef and stir to combine. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce has reduced slightly.
  6. Stir in most of the green onions, reserving some for garnish.
  7. Serve the beef over rice, garnished with remaining green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add more red pepper flakes.
  • This dish is also delicious with a fried egg on top.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Serve with kimchi and pickled vegetables for a more authentic Korean meal.
