Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz) can lemon pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 oz) package yellow cake mix
  • 4 oz cream cheese, cubed
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C).
  2. Lightly grease an 8″x8″ square baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  3. Spread the lemon pie filling evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle half of the dry cake mix over the lemon filling.
  5. Distribute the cubed cream cheese evenly over the cake mix layer.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining half of the cake mix over the cream cheese.
  7. Place the thinly sliced butter pats evenly over the top of the cake mix.
  8. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool for 15–20 minutes before serving.
