- 1 (15 oz.) package yellow cake mix
- 4 oz. cream cheese, cubed
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a square baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- Spread the lemon pie filling evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the yellow cake mix over the lemon pie filling.
- Distribute the cream cheese cubes evenly over the cake mix layer.
- Sprinkle the remaining cake mix over the cream cheese.
- Place the thinly sliced butter evenly over the top layer of cake mix.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for 15-20 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a twist, try adding lemon zest to the cream cheese and serving with whipped cream or fresh berries.
