A comforting low carb twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak casserole, combining seasoned ground beef, bell peppers, and creamy cheeses.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 large bell peppers, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add diced onions and bell peppers, cooking for about 5-6 minutes until softened.
  5. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Toss in the ground beef with the vegetables, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  7. Cook while breaking up the meat until completely browned, about 7-8 minutes.
  8. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, coating the meat mixture.
  9. Reduce heat to low, adding cream cheese and stirring until melted.
  10. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  11. Layer provolone cheese over the beef mixture, then sprinkle mozzarella on top.
  12. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  13. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
