Description

Discover the perfect Mochi Donut Recipe for a delightful treat! Learn how to make these chewy, sweet donuts at home with our easy step-by-step guide.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cup (480 ml) s sweet rice flour
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) milk
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s vegetable oil melted
  • 4 cup (960 ml) s powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) vanilla extract
  • 34 tablespoon (53 ml) s milk
  • 1 drop food coloring optional

Instructions

  1. Place 1/4 cup of the sweet rice flour and 1/4 cup of milk into a bowl suitable for the microwave. Heat it for 30-40 seconds, until you achieve a sticky dough. Allow it to cool down to room temperature.
  2. In one bowl, combine the rest of the dry components. In a different bowl, whisk together the liquid components. Blend these with the cooled sticky dough. Knead until the mixture becomes smooth.
  3. Dust your hands lightly with flour, then split the dough into 8 equal sections. Further divide each section into 8 smaller portions and shape them into balls. Connect the balls to form a ring resembling a donut.
  4. Pour oil into a large pan or pot. Once the oil is heated, carefully place the donuts in and cook them for 2-3 minutes, or until both sides are golden brown. Continue this process until all the donuts are fried.
  5. After the donuts have cooled, prepare the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar with vanilla extract and milk. If desired, incorporate a few drops of food coloring for added effect.
  6. Submerge each side of the donuts into the glaze and allow it to solidify.

Notes

  • Consider using coconut milk for a richer flavor in the dough mixture.
  • Add lemon or orange zest to the glaze for a hint of citrus.
  • Experiment with various food coloring options for a vibrant glaze.
