- 1/2 cup (120 ml) dark chocolate chips (90 grams)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a 9-inch round baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients.
- Mix until just combined.
- Stir in the buttermilk until the batter is smooth.
- Slowly add the hot water to the batter, mixing continuously.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
