  • 1 package of beef hot dogs (8 hot dogs)
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) mustard
  • Flour, for dusting
  • Tomato sauce, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Lightly flour your work surface.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheet to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  4. Cut the puff pastry into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
  5. Take a beef hot dog and wrap it with puff pastry strips, leaving a small space for the “eyes.”
  6. Repeat the wrapping process for each hot dog.
  7. Place the wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush each wrapped hot dog with the beaten egg.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  11. Use a toothpick to dot mustard “eyes” onto each hot dog.
  12. Serve warm with ketchup on the side, if desired.
