- 1 package of beef hot dogs (8 hot dogs)
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) mustard
- Flour, for dusting
- Tomato sauce, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Lightly flour your work surface.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet to about 1/8 inch thickness.
- Cut the puff pastry into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
- Take a beef hot dog and wrap it with puff pastry strips, leaving a small space for the “eyes.”
- Repeat the wrapping process for each hot dog.
- Place the wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush each wrapped hot dog with the beaten egg.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
- Use a toothpick to dot mustard “eyes” onto each hot dog.
- Serve warm with ketchup on the side, if desired.
