Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoon (10 ml) s baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) kosher salt
  • 1 ¼ cups (306 g) whole milk
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick / 57 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 350°F. Coat an 8 ½ x 4 ½-inch loaf pan with nonstick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, blend the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry, stirring gently until just mixed. Ensure the batter remains slightly liquid.
  5. Transfer the mixture into the loaf pan, ensuring it is spread out evenly.
  6. Place in the oven and bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs and the top is a golden hue.
  7. After baking, take the loaf out and let it rest in the pan for 10 minutes. Carefully remove from the pan and set it on parchment paper.
  8. While still warm, brush the entire loaf with the melted butter topping.
  9. In a small bowl, blend sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg for the topping.
  10. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered loaf, turning it to cover all sides. Save any leftover for future use.
