Description

A classic comfort food featuring tender round steak simmered with vegetables and tomatoes, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds round steak
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cups diced tomatoes (canned or fresh)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Cut the round steak into serving-size pieces and season with salt and pepper. Dredge the steak pieces in flour, shaking off the excess.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Brown the steak pieces on both sides, then remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened.
  5. Stir in the diced tomatoes, beef broth, and paprika. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Place the browned steak pieces back into the skillet, cover it, and transfer to the preheated oven.
  7. Bake for about 90 to 120 minutes, or until the meat is tender.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal. Leftovers taste even better the next day!
