Ingredients
Scale
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (450g)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50g)
- 1 teaspoon salt (5g)
- 1 packet active dry yeast (7g)
- 1/2 cup warm water (120ml)
- 1/2 cup warm milk (120ml)
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (60g)
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add the warm milk, melted butter, egg, and sugar to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour and salt.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough to release the air, then divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a greased baking sheet.
- Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove the rolls from the oven and cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the warm water and milk are the right temperature to activate the yeast and help the dough rise effectively.
- Don’t skip kneading the dough for 8-10 minutes to develop gluten and achieve a light, airy texture in the rolls.
- Cover the rolls with a cloth during rising to prevent drying out and forming a crust on top.
