Description
A comforting and uncomplicated one-pot meal featuring smoked sausage and orzo pasta, enhanced with garlic and butter.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the sliced sausage for 3–4 minutes on each side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the minced garlic for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the orzo and stir to coat it in the garlic butter. Toast for 2–3 minutes.
- Pour in the chicken broth, bringing it to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- When the orzo is tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed, return the sausage to the pan. Stir and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes.
- Sprinkle with parsley, season with salt and pepper, and serve hot.
Notes
You can add a splash of lemon juice before serving for extra brightness or incorporate vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for added nutrition.
