Description

A comforting and uncomplicated one-pot meal featuring smoked sausage and orzo pasta, enhanced with garlic and butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the sliced sausage for 3–4 minutes on each side. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the minced garlic for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the orzo and stir to coat it in the garlic butter. Toast for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth, bringing it to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. When the orzo is tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed, return the sausage to the pan. Stir and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle with parsley, season with salt and pepper, and serve hot.

Notes

You can add a splash of lemon juice before serving for extra brightness or incorporate vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for added nutrition.
