- 2 cups white or brown rice
- 4–4.5 cups broth (chicken or vegetable)
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil

- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: lemon juice to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Slice sausage and brown in the pan until cooked through.
- Add diced onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
- Add rice and stir to coat with oil.
- Pour in broth, bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer.
- Cover and cook until rice is tender (20 minutes for white rice, 30 minutes for brown rice).
- Season with salt, pepper, and optional lemon juice.
- Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
- For brown rice, add an extra ½ cup of liquid and cook 10 minutes longer.
- Can be made vegetarian using plant-based sausage and vegetable broth.
- For Instant Pot: Use sauté function, then pressure cook white rice for 5 minutes (10 for brown rice).
- To reduce sodium, use low-sodium broth and reduced-sodium sausage.
