Description

A delicious homemade version of the classic Panda Express Orange Chicken, combining crispy chicken with a sweet and tangy orange sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, orange zest, orange juice, chili sauce, garlic, and ginger. Set it aside to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Coat the chicken pieces in cornstarch. Then dip them in the beaten eggs, ensuring they are well-covered.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the chicken until it becomes golden brown and crispy. Make sure the oil is hot enough to create that beautiful crust.
  4. Once fried, remove chicken and drain excess oil. Add the chicken to the sauce and stir well to coat each piece evenly.
  5. Serve hot alongside fried rice or lo mein for a complete meal.

Notes

For extra texture, consider adding sesame seeds or chopped green onions as a garnish before serving.
