Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter
- 2 cups (400g) light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (130g) creamy peanut butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups (313g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) salt
- 3/4 cup (130g) chocolate chips (use dark or semi-sweet)
Instructions
- Set your oven to 350°F and coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with grease, then put it aside.
- Over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar in a saucepan, stirring constantly until you achieve a smooth texture. Take the saucepan off the heat and incorporate the peanut butter, mixing until the consistency is creamy. Allow this mixture to cool down.
- In a separate large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt by whisking them together.
- Integrate the eggs into the cooled peanut butter mixture one by one, ensuring each is well-mixed before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract and blend well. Combine this mixture with the dry ingredients and mix until the batter is smooth. Gently fold in 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, keeping the rest aside for later.
- Pour the batter into the greased pan, ensuring it spreads evenly to the edges. Scatter the remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips over the top and press them gently into the batter.
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is a golden color and the edges are slightly browned. Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool. After cooling, slice into squares and enjoy.
Notes
- For a more decadent taste, opt for dark chocolate chips over semi-sweet.
- Ensure the peanut butter mixture is completely cooled before incorporating the eggs to prevent them from cooking.
- Gently pressing the chocolate chips into the batter before baking will prevent them from sinking to the bottom.
