Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups (400g) light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (130g) creamy peanut butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups (313g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) salt
  • 3/4 cup (130g) chocolate chips (use dark or semi-sweet)

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 350°F and coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with grease, then put it aside.
  2. Over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar in a saucepan, stirring constantly until you achieve a smooth texture. Take the saucepan off the heat and incorporate the peanut butter, mixing until the consistency is creamy. Allow this mixture to cool down.
  3. In a separate large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt by whisking them together.
  4. Integrate the eggs into the cooled peanut butter mixture one by one, ensuring each is well-mixed before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract and blend well. Combine this mixture with the dry ingredients and mix until the batter is smooth. Gently fold in 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, keeping the rest aside for later.
  5. Pour the batter into the greased pan, ensuring it spreads evenly to the edges. Scatter the remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips over the top and press them gently into the batter.
  6. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is a golden color and the edges are slightly browned. Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool. After cooling, slice into squares and enjoy.

Notes

  • For a more decadent taste, opt for dark chocolate chips over semi-sweet.
  • Ensure the peanut butter mixture is completely cooled before incorporating the eggs to prevent them from cooking.
  • Gently pressing the chocolate chips into the batter before baking will prevent them from sinking to the bottom.
