Ingredients

Scale
  • 450 g beef ribeye steak, thinly sliced (1 lb)
  • 15 ml vegetable oil (1 tbsp)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 15 g unsalted butter (1 tbsp)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil.
  2. Add the sliced onions to the skillet and sauté until soft.
  3. Add green and red bell peppers to the onions and cook until tender.
  4. Remove the onions and peppers from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the ribeye steak slices in a single layer.
  6. Season the steak with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Cook the steak, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
  8. Return the onions and peppers to the skillet with the steak.
  9. Stir to combine the steak, onions, and peppers evenly.
  10. Reduce the heat to low and lay the provolone cheese slices over the mixture.
  11. Allow the cheese to melt over the steak and vegetables.
  12. Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise and spread butter on the insides.
  13. Toast the hoagie rolls on a separate pan until golden brown.
  14. Fill each toasted hoagie roll with the cheesy steak mixture.
  15. Serve the Philly cheesesteak sandwiches hot.

Notes

  • Marinate ribeye slices in a mixture of soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic for a more flavorful steak.
  • Use a mix of red and green bell peppers to add color and balance to the sandwich.
  • Choose a crusty, chewy hoagie roll to complement the tender steak and melted cheese.
