Instructions

- Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap.
- Pound the chicken to an even thickness using a meat mallet.
- In a shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, paprika, and salt.
- In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
- In a third shallow dish, place the crushed pretzels.
- Dredge each chicken breast in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- Dip the chicken into the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off.
- Press the chicken into the crushed pretzels, coating evenly.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken breasts to the skillet and cook until browned on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side.

- Bake the chicken for 10-12 minutes, or until fully cooked and no longer pink inside.
- While the chicken bakes, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until the mixture thickens.
- Add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
- Stir in the Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Season the sauce with salt to taste.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Serve the chicken with the mustard cheddar sauce drizzled on top.
Notes
- Consider adding a pinch of cayenne to the flour for a subtle heat.
- For extra crispiness, use panko breadcrumbs instead of crushed pretzels.
- Customize the mustard cheddar sauce with a splash of hot sauce or lemon juice for a tangy flavor.
