Ingredients
- – 1/2 cup (120g) unsalted butter
- – 6 oz (170g) dark chocolate, chopped
- – 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- – 1 tsp (5 ml) baking powder
- – 1 tsp (5 ml) salt
- – 1 1/2 cups (300g) sugar
- – 4 large eggs at room temperature
- – 1 1/4 cups (300g) pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie mix)
- – 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
- – 1 tsp (5 ml) cinnamon
- – 1 tsp (5 ml) pumpkin pie spice
- – 1/3 cup (60g) chocolate chips for top, optional
Instructions
- Set your oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×9 baking dish by lining it with foil or parchment and then coating the base with non-stick spray.
- In a sturdy saucepan over low heat, dissolve the butter and chopped chocolate, stirring until they blend smoothly. Take off the heat and let it cool.
- Using a mixer, blend the sugar and eggs thoroughly until they are well mixed. Gradually add the flour, baking powder, and salt, stirring gently to combine without overmixing.
- Evenly distribute the sugar, egg, and flour mixture into two separate bowls. In one bowl, mix in the melted chocolate blend until integrated. In the other bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, and spices, mixing until unified.
- Pour the pumpkin and brownie mixtures alternately into the prepared baking dish, and use a knife to gently swirl them together. If desired, sprinkle chocolate chips over the top.
- Bake for roughly 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle emerges almost clean. Let the brownies cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
- Use room temperature eggs for a smoother mixture with the sugar.
- Be cautious not to overmix the dry ingredients to avoid a tough texture.
- Gently swirl pumpkin and chocolate mixtures for a marbled effect.
