  • 60 g packed brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 5 tsp (8 ml) ground cinnamon
  • 120 g white sugar
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml) unsalted butter, softened
  • 120 g chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with grease.
  2. For the base: Reserve 1 cup of the cake mix for later use. In a large bowl, blend the remaining cake mix with the melted butter and beaten egg until the mixture is smooth. Press this mixture evenly into the base of the prepared dish.
  3. For the pumpkin layer: In a separate large bowl, thoroughly blend the pumpkin puree, white sugar, brown sugar, beaten eggs, and cinnamon. Pour this mixture over the crust.
  4. For the topping: Mix the reserved cake mix with the sugar and softened butter until it forms a crumbly texture. Sprinkle this over the pumpkin layer, then evenly distribute the chopped walnuts on top.
  5. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
