Description
Delightful cookies that blend sweetness and a hint of salt, featuring gooey caramel and optional chocolate chips.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup caramel chips
- ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)
- ½ tsp flaky sea salt (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Set this mixture aside for later.
- Cream the softened butter and both types of sugar until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, allowing each to incorporate fully before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until they are just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the caramel chips and chocolate chips, if using.
- Scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
- Sprinkle each dough ball with flaky sea salt before baking.
- Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking for enhanced flavor. Experiment with mix-ins like nuts or toffee bits for added crunch.
