- 4 cups sliced potatoes
- 2 cups cooked ham, diced
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the diced ham, half of the cheese, and some salt and pepper.
- Repeat the layers again.
- In a bowl, mix the heavy cream and milk, and pour it evenly over the layered potatoes and ham.
- Dot the top with butter and sprinkle with garlic and onion powder if using.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for about 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbling.
- Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Consider adding herbs or spicy seasonings for a personal touch. For softer potatoes, parboil before layering.
