Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish, followed by half of the sliced onions and half of the cheeses. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, onions, and cheeses.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the heavy cream and milk, then pour this mixture over the layered potatoes.
  5. Top with the remaining cheese and a sprinkle of paprika if desired.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
