Ingredients

- 2 lbs cube steak
- 1 tsp seasoning salt
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp bacon grease
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- In a rimmed container, mix all-purpose flour with garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
- Season each cube steak with seasoning salt liberally.
- In a heated pan, melt bacon grease and fry each cube steak for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Transfer browned steaks to a slow cooker.
- Pour remaining bacon grease and bits from the pan into the slow cooker.
- Mix hot water, beef broth, brown gravy mix, Worcestershire sauce, and additional spices in a bowl, then pour over the steaks.
- Cook on low for 5 to 6 hours or high for 2 to 3 hours.
- Optional: To thicken the gravy, create a slurry with flour and cold water, stirring into the slow cooker if desired.
- Serve over mashed potatoes or with your favorite sides.
Notes
For added richness, consider enhancing with soy sauce or hot sauce. Adjust thickness of gravy as needed with a slurry.
