Deliciously tender and smoky BBQ ribs with a flavorful chipotle sauce that can be made in the oven or slow cooker.

- 2 racks baby back ribs
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
Instructions
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and pat dry.
- Mix together brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to create a dry rub.
- Apply the dry rub generously to both sides of the ribs, ensuring complete coverage.
- For oven method: Preheat oven to 275°F. Wrap ribs in foil and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 2-2.5 hours until tender.
- While ribs are cooking, blend chipotle peppers with barbecue sauce until smooth.
- When ribs are tender, remove from foil, brush with sauce, and broil for 3-5 minutes until caramelized.
- Let rest for 5-10 minutes before cutting and serving with additional sauce.
Notes
- For slow cooker method: Cook on low for 6-8 hours until tender.
- You can remove the membrane by sliding a knife under it and pulling it off with a paper towel for better grip.
- For extra flavor, let the dry rub sit on the ribs for 1-2 hours before cooking.
- Adjust the amount of chipotle peppers based on your heat preference.
