Description
Delicious Korean-inspired beef with beautifully crispy edges. This savory dish combines tender beef with a flavorful gochujang-based sauce for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound chuck or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 green onions, sliced for garnish
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Pat beef dry with paper towels and slice against the grain into thin strips for maximum tenderness.
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, gochujang, honey, garlic, and ginger to create the marinade.
- Add beef to the marinade and mix thoroughly. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over high heat until shimmering.
- Cook beef in small batches to maintain high heat, allowing each piece to sear undisturbed for at least 1 minute before stirring.
- Once all beef has been cooked and developed crispy edges, return all beef to the pan and pour any remaining marinade.
- Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens into a glaze.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- For crispier beef, ensure your pan is very hot before adding the meat.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan – cook in batches for best results.
- This dish pairs well with steamed rice or in lettuce wraps.
- You can adjust the spice level by increasing or decreasing the amount of gochujang.
