Description

Delicious Korean-inspired beef with beautifully crispy edges. This savory dish combines tender beef with a flavorful gochujang-based sauce for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound chuck or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat beef dry with paper towels and slice against the grain into thin strips for maximum tenderness.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, gochujang, honey, garlic, and ginger to create the marinade.
  3. Add beef to the marinade and mix thoroughly. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet over high heat until shimmering.
  5. Cook beef in small batches to maintain high heat, allowing each piece to sear undisturbed for at least 1 minute before stirring.
  6. Once all beef has been cooked and developed crispy edges, return all beef to the pan and pour any remaining marinade.
  7. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens into a glaze.
  8. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • For crispier beef, ensure your pan is very hot before adding the meat.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan – cook in batches for best results.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed rice or in lettuce wraps.
  • You can adjust the spice level by increasing or decreasing the amount of gochujang.
