Description

A classic Italian dessert featuring layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone cheese.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 120 g of sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 400 g of ladyfingers (savoiardi)
  • 400 ml of brewed coffee
  • 500 g of mascarpone cheese
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
  • A splash of orange liqueur (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew coffee and let it cool, mixing with orange liqueur if desired.
  2. Separate egg yolks and whites. Beat yolks with 60 g of sugar until smooth, then mix in mascarpone cheese.
  3. Beat egg whites with remaining sugar until firm peaks form.
  4. Fold the mascarpone mixture into the whipped egg whites gently.
  5. In a tall mold, spread a layer of mascarpone cream.
  6. Quickly dip each ladyfinger in coffee and layer them on the cream.
  7. Add another layer of mascarpone cream and sprinkle with cocoa powder.
  8. Repeat layering process for a total of two layers.
  9. Refrigerate for at least two hours before serving.

Notes

Serve in individual cups or a large dish. Top with cocoa powder or coffee beans for garnish.
