Description
Delicious and versatile tofu lettuce wraps filled with savory tofu, fresh vegetables, and topped with zesty sauces.
Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/4 cup onion, diced (yellow or white)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced (or ginger paste)
- 14-ounce block extra firm tofu, water pressed out
- 1/4 cup tamari (or soy sauce, coconut aminos)
- 2 tablespoons Thai sweet red chili sauce
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup (or agave)
- 1/3 cup cashews, chopped (raw or roasted/salted)
- 1/4 cup scallions, chopped
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1/4–1/2 cup carrots, shredded
- Sesame seeds (for topping)
- 1 head butter lettuce, leaves removed, rinsed, and dried
Instructions
- Heat the pan to medium-high heat and add the sesame oil.
- Once the oil is hot, add the diced onions. Toss gently and let them cook for 2-3 minutes until they begin to brown and become translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and ginger to the pan. Toss everything together and let it cook for about 2 minutes.
- Crumble the pressed tofu into the pan and stir it into the onion mixture.
- Cook the tofu, stirring occasionally for about 4-5 minutes, until it turns golden brown.
- In a separate bowl, combine the tamari, sweet red chili sauce, lime juice, and maple syrup.
- Pour the sauce over the tofu, adding the chopped cashews, and toss to coat.
- Reduce the heat to low and allow it to cook together for another 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded carrots, chopped scallions, and fresh cilantro.
- To assemble, take a lettuce leaf and fill it with a scoop of the tofu mixture. Drizzle with sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Notes
Press the tofu for at least 15-30 minutes for the best texture. Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite ingredients.
