Instructions
- Prepare instant pudding according to package instructions with milk
- Allow pudding to set completely
- Fold in Cool Whip
- Add powdered sugar to achieve desired consistency
- Mix until well combined
Notes
- Can be made up to 24 hours in advance and stored in refrigerator
- Holds shape for 2 hours at room temperature below 75°F
- For piping decorations, add 1-2 extra tablespoons of powdered sugar
- Not suitable for use under fondant
- 40% less sweet than traditional American buttercream
- For scratch version: Replace pudding mix with 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste cooked with milk until thickened
