Ingredients

- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup mini M&Ms or chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter or coconut oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, rolled oats, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk the egg, then add honey, applesauce, and melted butter or coconut oil. Mix well.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Fold in M&Ms or chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, substitute gluten-free flour and certified gluten-free oats.
- These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Freeze cooled cookies for up to 1 month for quick breakfasts.
