Description

A delightful twist on the classic cookie, Apple Snickerdoodles combine the warmth of cinnamon and the sweetness of diced apples for a comforting treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 cup small apple pieces (diced)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the diced apple pieces.
  4. Combine the additional sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  5. Roll the dough into small balls and coat them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture before placing them on a baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until they are set and lightly golden.
  7. Let cool before serving.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking. Use tart apples for a more pronounced apple flavor.
