- 200g salted butter
- ½ cup (100g) caster sugar
- 2 tablespoons golden syrup
- 1 cup (heaped or 80g) desiccated coconut
- 3 cups (crushed or 90g) cornflakes
- 1 cup (heaped or 150g) self-raising flour
- 1.5 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 block (180g) Cadbury milk chocolate
Instructions
- Start the cooking process by melting the butter in a large saucepan set over low heat.
- Once melted, add in the caster sugar, golden syrup, desiccated coconut, cocoa powder, and self-raising flour.
- Mix well, ensuring all ingredients thoroughly combine.
- Finally, stir in the crushed cornflakes to blend everything into a consistently textured batter.
- Pour the prepared mixture into your slice tray.
- Use the back of a spoon or spatula to press it firmly, ensuring it spreads evenly.
- Place it in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 25 minutes.
- Allow the slice to cool completely.
- While it cools, break the block of Cadbury milk chocolate into a bowl.
- Microwave the chocolate in 30-second intervals until completely melted.
- Spread the melted chocolate over the cooled slice using a spatula.
- Place the slice in the fridge to set for a minimum of 15 minutes.
- Remove the slice from the tray and slice it into squares, triangles, or bars.
Notes
For added flavor, lightly toast the desiccated coconut before mixing. Keep an eye on the baking time as ovens can vary.
