Description

Delightful cookies that combine the aromatic flavor of fresh basil with the zesty brightness of lime, creating a unique sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon lime zest
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg, lime juice, and lime zest.
  4. Stir in the chopped basil.
  5. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until well combined.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.

Notes

For stronger lime flavor, experiment with extra zest. Chilling the dough for about 30 minutes can enhance texture.
