- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Butter (for greasing)
- Maple syrup (for serving)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Cut the bread into cubes and place them in the dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are coated.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- The next morning, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the plastic wrap and bake the casserole for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the middle.
- Allow to cool slightly, then serve warm with maple syrup.
Notes
For added flavor, consider mixing in fruits or nuts before baking. Dust with powdered sugar before serving for an elegant touch.
