  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Pinch of cayenne (optional)

Instructions

  1. Lightly toast the bread or broil each side for 1–2 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400°F (if using a toaster oven, set it to the bottom rack, BAKE setting).
  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg until fully combined.
  4. Stir in the grated cheese, herbs, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
  5. Spread the egg and cheese mixture to the edges of the toasted bread. If desired, sprinkle a pinch of cayenne over the top for a little extra heat.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the tops are puffed and golden.
