Description

A delightful recipe for homemade jelly donuts that are fluffy, sweet, and reminiscent of childhood memories.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup jelly or jam of your choice
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine warm milk, eggs, and melted butter.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 60 minutes.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Cut out circles and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Fry the donuts until golden brown on each side.
  10. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  11. Once cool, fill each donut with jelly using a piping bag, and dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

Ensure your ingredients are at room temperature for optimal results. Try using seasonal jams for a fun twist.
