Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet instant yeast
- 1/2 cup milk, warmed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup jelly or jam of your choice
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- In a separate bowl, combine warm milk, eggs, and melted butter.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 60 minutes.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut out circles and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the donuts until golden brown on each side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Once cool, fill each donut with jelly using a piping bag, and dust with powdered sugar.
