A delightful blend of heat and sweetness, Hot Honey Fried Shrimp offers crispy texture and flavorful spice, making it perfect for gatherings or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, cleaned and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup hot honey
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper in a bowl.
  2. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl until thoroughly combined.
  3. Dip each large shrimp into the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off.
  4. Dredge the shrimp in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  5. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Place the shrimp in batches into the hot oil, avoiding crowding.
  7. Fry until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
  8. Remove the shrimp and drain on paper towels.
  9. Toss the fried shrimp in warm hot honey until well coated.
  10. Serve immediately with extra hot honey on the side.

Notes

For added flavor, incorporate garlic or onion powder into the flour mixture. Adjust cayenne to taste for spiciness.
