A comforting blend of bread, eggs, turkey, ham, and Swiss cheese, baked to perfection for a delightful breakfast dish.


Ingredients

  • 6 slices of bread (preferably Texas toast or challah)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 1 cup cooked turkey (diced or shredded)
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Jam (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Tear the bread into pieces and layer half of it in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla in a bowl. Pour half of this mixture over the bread.
  4. Layer the ham, turkey, and cheese over the bread.
  5. Top with the remaining bread pieces, and pour the rest of the egg mixture on top, ensuring everything is soaked well.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
  7. Let cool slightly, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve warm with jam.

Notes

You can prepare the casserole the night before and bake it in the morning for a hassle-free breakfast.
