Ingredients

  • 8 oz. milk or semi-sweet melting chocolate
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (divided)
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 4 oz. cream cheese (softened)
  • 8 oz. whipped topping/cool whip
  • 24 crushed Oreos

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate with 4 tablespoons of milk over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  2. Allow the mixture to cool for 5-10 minutes, then stir in the remaining milk.
  3. Chill the chocolate mixture until it feels cool to the touch and has thickened.
  4. While the chocolate is chilling, mix the cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
  5. Pour the cooled chocolate mixture into the cream cheese mixture and blend well.
  6. Gently fold in the 8 ounces of cool whip until the mixture is creamy and smooth.
  7. In dessert cups or a large trifle bowl, layer the crushed Oreos, chocolate filling, and whipped topping.
  8. Add more cool whip or crushed Oreos if desired.
  9. Serve immediately, or refrigerate for up to 24 hours.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use high-quality chocolate or dark chocolate. Chilling the cups improves flavor melding.
