Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/2 lbs (1134 g) salmon filet sliced into 2” wide slices
- 3 Tbsp (45 ml) teriyaki sauce
- 3 Tbsp (45 ml) hoisin sauce
- 3 Tbsp (45 ml) soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp (15 ml) white vinegar
- 1 Tbsp (15 ml) sesame oil
- 1/3 cup (80 g) packed light brown sugar
- 2 large or 3 medium garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tsp (10 ml) freshly grated ginger, or 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- Sesame seeds to garnish, optional
- Green onion, chopped, optional
Instructions
- Coat a large baking sheet with a rim, using foil and then greasing it to make cleaning easier. Heat the oven to 400˚F.
- Mix together the sauce components and stir until the brown sugar is fully dissolved.
- Put the salmon pieces into a mixing bowl. Pour the sauce mixture over them, cover with plastic wrap, and let them sit for 20 minutes (either at room temperature or in the fridge).
- Move the salmon onto the prepared baking sheet while keeping the marinade aside. Bake at 400˚F for 12-16 minutes or until the salmon is flaky and thoroughly cooked, adjusting the time based on the thickness of the fish.
- As the salmon bakes, pour the leftover marinade into a small saucepan, bring it to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer, stirring now and then, until it slightly thickens (about 3-4 minutes), then take it off the heat.
- After removing the salmon from the oven, brush it with the thickened teriyaki mixture, then, if desired, sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
- For a bolder ginger flavor, increase the amount of freshly grated ginger or use ground ginger sparingly.
- Enhance the sweetness by adding a bit more brown sugar to the sauce mixture.
- Customize with toppings like chopped nuts or shredded coconut for added texture and flavor.
