Description

A delightful take on the classic Sloppy Joe, combining savory beef and tangy sauce on crunchy French bread, topped with gooey cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of French bread
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 (15 ounce) can sloppy joe sauce
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350° F.
  2. Cut the French bread loaf in half lengthwise and place both halves on a lined baking sheet.
  3. In a large sauté pan, cook the diced yellow onion with a little butter or oil for 3-4 minutes, or until soft.
  4. Add the ground beef to the pan, crumbling it until no longer pink.
  5. Drain or use a paper towel to remove any excess grease, then stir in the sloppy joe sauce.
  6. Spread the beef and sauce mixture evenly over the bread halves.
  7. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  8. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese melts and the edges of the bread become toasty.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing, and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to experiment with spices or use different types of cheese for added flavor.
