Hearty Texas Toast Sloppy Joes are a perfect blend of seasoned ground beef and melted cheese, served on crispy Texas toast for a comforting meal.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 envelope sloppy joe seasoning mix
- 1 cup water
- 8 slices Texas toast
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or American)
- Butter, for spreading
- Pickles (optional for serving)
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the sloppy joe seasoning mix and water; simmer for 10 minutes.
- Butter one side of each slice of Texas toast.
- On the unbuttered side, place a generous amount of the sloppy joe mixture and sprinkle with cheese.
- Top with another slice of Texas toast, buttered side up.
- Grill the sandwiches in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown on both sides and cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Slice in half and serve hot with pickles, if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, add sautéed onions or bell peppers to the beef mixture. Use thick Texas toast to hold the filling well.
