Description

Savory venison Philly cheesesteak sliders filled with ground venison, sautéed veggies, and melted provolone.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 Tbsp. unsalted butter – divided
  • 1/2 cup chopped white onion
  • 1 green pepper – diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped white mushrooms
  • 1/4 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1 pound ground venison meat
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 12 Tbsp. corn starch
  • 24 Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 12 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Melt 2 Tbsp. of unsalted butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Sauté the chopped onion, mushrooms, green pepper, and minced garlic until soft.
  4. Add in the ground venison meat, salt, and pepper and cook thoroughly.
  5. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 3-5 minutes or until thickened.
  6. Add 1 Tbsp. of corn starch at about the 2-minute mark. If it appears too runny after 5 minutes, add another 1 Tbsp. of corn starch.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Grease two 9×13 baking dishes.
  9. Split the Hawaiian rolls and line the bottom with the roll halves.
  10. Spoon the venison mixture onto each roll filling them with about 1-2 Tbsp. of the mixture.
  11. Cut the provolone slices in half and top each filled roll with a half slice of cheese.
  12. Place the top half of each bun on.
  13. Melt 1 Tbsp. of butter and brush it across each roll.
  14. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  15. Brush the top with more melted butter just before serving.

Notes

Allow venison to rest briefly after sautéing for more flavor. Use fresh ingredients for the best results.
